Hier ein weiteres Bild auf Holzpanel. Diesmal habe ich die raue Rückseite grundiert. Das Ergebnis ist gemischt: super viel Struktur (juhu!) und sehr hoher Farbverbrauch (für mich blöd), was aber kein Problem ist, wenn man locker malt und die Grundierung durchgucken darf. Der Prozess war diesmal ganz interessant: ich habe die dunkelsten Stellen zuerst angelegt und mich dann an die Farbgebung rangetastet. So richtig optimal ist sie noch nicht…ich muss da mehr üben und weiß auch schon, wie ich das machen werde. Bald schreibe ich darüber.
In Vorbereitung auf meine Malreise in einer Woche habe ich dieses Bild auf meiner neuen Staffelei und draußen gemalt. Ist alles etwas wackelig gewesen mit der Staffelei, aber das ist beim Malen en plein air oft so, denke ich.

Here is another painting on a wooden panel. This time I primed the rough side. The result is mixed: lots of structure due to elevated wood grain (yay!) which requires more paint (booh) unless you don’t mind the priming looking through a bit (or everywhere). The process was interesting this time: I blocked the darkest darks in first and then tried to find the right temperature and tonality for the painting. I think the colours could be improved…but that’s easier said than done. I know I need to focus on this more and I also know how I can do that. I will write something about this soon.
I did this one on my new easel as a preparation for my upcoming painting journey to the German North Sea coast. The whole set-up was a bit wobbly but from what I gather watching plein air painters in Youtube clips this is quite normal.
