On and off I work on older paintings which needed a little something to be finished, and when I know what it is (which can take many months) I try to give it to the painting. I loved this autumnal scene but then I got stuck on it. Recently I realised that it needed some reworking of the light effect and the grass. How wonderful it was to see the autumn light stream through the foliage at the edge of the forest! In my imagination, I am out there in the field enjoying it all over again.
Immer mal wieder wende ich mich älteren Bildern zu, bei denen es noch an irgendwas fehlt, und wenn ich dann was, was das ist – was mehrere Monate dauern kann – dann gebe ich es dem Bild. Diese Herbstszene finde ich wunderbar! Der Lichteffekt sieht einfach aus, aber die Tonwerte stimmten irgendwie nicht, da musste ich noch einmal ran. Das Gras im Vordergrund war auch zu sehr wie angestrichen, jetzt ist es ein bisschen besser. Seufz, es war so herrlich, das goldene Licht durch das Laub drängen zu sehen! Wenn ich das Bild ansehe, dann stehe ich wieder genau da auf dem Feld und genieße den Anblick.
