On my way home (The tower). Watercolour on 450 g/sqm rough paper.

Now that I work in Berlin and also sleep here for two nights a week, my way to and from work is very different. It features a little bit of walking and three different train lines and it takes 40 minutes. That is, if all goes well! Yesterday the first of my three trains didn’t come and I had some time to sketch. This morning I decided to quick-paint the scene in my Berlin abode. As you can see looking at the photo, I magnified the tower a lot! I think it’s because I like this feature most about the scene. I am just now realising that my roof angles aren’t completely right. But as long as the tower is ok…:)

Jetzt, wo ich in Berlin arbeite und kurzzeitig übernachte, habe ich natürlich einen ganz anderen Nachhauseweg. Er dauert 40 Minuten und besteht aus ein bisschen Fußweg und drei verschiedenen Zügen (U- und S-Bahn). Wenn eine Bahn nicht kommt, dauert’s natürlich länger. Ist mir gestern passiert. Zum Glück hatte ich ein Miniskizzenbuch dabei. Heute Morgen habe ich zur Skizze ein kleines Bild gemalt. Wie man im Abgleich mit dem Foto erkennen kann, habe ich den Turm ungemein vergrößert. Weil er mir so gut gefiel! Die Winkel bei den Dächern stimmen auch nicht ganz, fällt mir jetzt auf… weil es mir nur um den Turm ging! Hehe.
