Girl | Mädchen

One from the train journey home once again. Two larger groups of folk from the Middle East boarded the little regional train with me and I overheard one of them mention their destination. By the time I started drawing this teenage girl I knew they were about to disembark – which they promptly did just as I was halfway done with my sketch. Luckily, I had mentally sketched this passenger for a few minutes (read: I had intently gazed at her – there is something a bit creepy about writing this but it is true) before I realised that I could do it for real, and so her image stayed quite vividly with me for some time, long enough to finish the drawing and tint the sketch. The only reason this worked is because of the constant practising I do. I haven’t painted from real life for long but I believe I can compute more detail in a short amount of time and somehow coordinate my hand and pencil much better.

Wieder einmal eine Skizze vom Zug auf meiner Rückfahrt nach Hause. Zwei größere Gruppen aus dem Nahen Osten sind mit mir eingestiegen. Ich hatte mitbekommen, dass sie bei der nächsten Station wieder aussteigen wollen und hatte das auch im Hinterkopf, als ich dieses Mädchen angefangen habe zu zeichnen. Naja, und nach 2-3 Minuten ist sie dann tatsächlich ausgestiegen, da war ich gerade mitten in der Bleistiftskizze! Vorher hatte ich sie allerdings ziemlich genau betrachtet und im Geiste gezeichnet, bevor mir klar wurde, dass ich sie ja auch in Echt zeichnen könnte. Deswegen waren mir ihre Haltung und ihre Kleidung noch im Gedächtnis, so dass ich die Skizze auch ohne sie fertigstellen konnte. Ich glaube, ich bin schon etwas schneller in meiner Erfassung von Szenen geworden, weil ich häufig direkt zeichne und male. Lange mache ich das noch nicht, aber eben häufig, und ich kann schon einen kleinen Lerneffekt in der Koordinierung von Auge, Hand und Bleistift sehen.
