As I said in a recent blog post, time for painting is relatively scarce at the moment. Most of my time with the brush is spent indoors, too, so much so that I noticed in a recent outside sketching endaevour that my skills have deteriorated quite a bit. This is a worrying development! So now, whenever I go outside to the garden with the wee one – and I can do that often because we are enjoying a very warm summer so far – I take my urban sketching kit with me. The entirety of our green area is not paint worthy, I have to say, but fortunately there are interesting potted plants galore in it. And there is usually the baby which I could draw and paint too. As you can see below, I do do that every now and then even though I have a really hard time with the baby’s proportions. I hope that I’l get better in time.
Wie ich vor kurzem schon mal erwähnt habe, ist die Zeit, die ich zum Malen habe, jetzt immer sehr knapp bemessen. Wenn ich dann mal den Pinsel in der Hand habe, sitze ich drinnen. Das ist meinen Sehfähigkeiten und dem raschen Erfassen von Formen in der Stadt und unterwegs nicht zuträglich. Ich habe dann auch direkt gemerkt, dass ich das nicht mehr so gut kann. Alarm! Seitdem nehme ich immer meine Ausrüstung mit, wenn ich mit dem Kleinen in den Garten gehe, und das ist bei unseren sommerlichen Temperaturen in letzter Zeit sehr oft gewesen. Unser Garten ist ziemlich langweilig und wirklich in keiner Hinsicht in Gänze malenswert. Aber einige Blumentöpfe und Pflanzen sind es dafür umso mehr. Und dann liegt da ja immer noch das Baby auf einer Decke… das ich dann mit großen Schwierigkeiten male. Die Babyskizzen sind eigentlich nie gut, aber ich bleibe am Ball und werde hoffentlich besser!
