IMG_0499Autumn fog is truly wonderful for it shrouds the land in a cold mystery. Sometimes the sun succeeds in dissolving the foggy veil in the course of the day, but often it cannot. Then the land is covered in fog for days and days. We experienced this kind of solid fog recently. Me and the pooh mobile managed to go out for an hour; we found ourselves a likely spot and I quickly set up my camping chair and started. Technical details: This is a variant of line-and-wash which I did with a waterbrush. I found this procedure to be amazingly uncomplicated – which I have never said before about any of my plein air painting trips, so yay! Trying to render fog was also a first for me. I thought that high chroma in the foreground and light greys in the back might work in order to give the scene depth, as using ordinary light effects was obviously no option.
