This was my last painting of 2016. It depicts so called Horton spheres at Eastman Chemical Factory in Kingsport, Tennessee. Horton spheres are used as containers for all kinds of chemicals. At Eastman, they are used to store acetaldehyde. Between the Horton spheres and the plant behind it runs the South Holston River. Kingsport was founded as Mr. King’s port on this very river.
Das ist das letzte Bild, das ich 2016 gemalt habe. Auf ihm sind Kugelgasbehälter im Chemiewerk von Eastman in Kingsport, Tennessee dargestellt. Diese Behälter werden für alle möglichen Chemikalien benutzt. Eastman bewahrt in ihnen Acetylaldehyd auf. Zwischen den Behältern und dem dahinterliegenden Werk fließt der South Holston River. Kingsport ist dem Ursprung nach Mr. Kings Hafen (port) an eben diesem Fluss.
