Feldweg_mit_Kiefern

Feldweg mit Kiefer. (Path with pines) Öl auf Malkarton (oil on canvas board), 18 x 24 cm.

Sounds like a recipe but is actually an oil painting 🙂 Good news: I have finally received my box easel! I’ve been waiting for weeks and weeks. Packing it full of everything I need was a very exciting process, as was taking it out on its maiden painting trip (to a near-by field – don’t have to start too fancy). When I got there, I sat down on my little folding stool, poured myself a cup of hot tea and ate a large walnut cookie. And contemplated the scene quietly. This in itself was bliss! I didn’t realise then that I had forgotten to take gloves; I actually didn’t really feel the cold for about an hour, I have to admit. In February! But eventually it got pretty bad and my fingers were really rather purple-ish in the end. I added a few finishing touches at home and with warm fingers but otherwise painted this on location. I am happy with the painting because of the experience but I can also see room for development. There are a few areas which could be a bit clearer and more defined, e.g. near the horizon line and among the trees. I still wanted to share this painting with you because of the lovely adventure I had with it!
