This guy guards the entrance to the merchant quarter in Hamburg. He is Christopher Columbus, explorer extraordinaire, man of parts, coloniser and so on and so forth. To his left stands Vasco de Gama who I haven’t managed to sketch yet. If it wasn’t for these two guys the merchants of Hamburg would have had a lot less commodities to trade with. The good things about this sketch is: I was sitting in the sunshine as I worked on it. Spring is almost springing already!
Dieser Kerl bewacht den Eingang zur Speicherstadt. Ihm zur Linken steht Vasco de Gama, den ich auch mal skizzieren werde, ich bin nur neulich nicht dazu gekommen. Das Tolle an dieser Skizze: Ich saß in der lauen Frühlingssonne, als ich sie anfertigte. Der Frühling ist schon fast da!
