Fresh off the easel! A little oil painting for a change. I consider this a practice piece whose main purpose is to re-acquaint myself with the medium. This is because oil is a difficult medium for me these days. I made it a wee bit easier on myself by choosing a) to paint indoors and b) selecting a subject matter which I have painted before in watercolours. So how did it go? Hm, I don’t know. I built it up starting with the background and worked my way into the foreground. It was quite methodical with some fine details at the end. I can’t really say more about it right now; painting in oil is so different from painting watercolours, I barely know how to feel about it! Strangely, I can’t identify shortcomings or flaws in it either which is something I am usually pretty good at in my watercolour paintings.

Format 24 x 30 cm.
