There is a lovely modern jazz song by the title of ‚Hang on, little tomato‘ – my husband wants to play this with his band sometime soon. Even before he has a chance to do that though, I am borrowing the title for this wee painting of tomatoes from our garden. It’s been raining the last few days, so I worked with photos and sketches for this one. I developed this A4-painting one on and off over three days, and I think taking my time with it has actually been a benefit. I had all kinds of ideas as the painting progressed which I normally don’t have, e.g. to fuzz out the second tomato in the centre or to leave alone the ones down in the left-hand corner.

Hang on, little tomato. 21 x 29,7 cm, Arches 300 g/m² fine grain.
