This is the main tower of St. Michaelis in Luneburg. What a church! I do like it a lot and the old town around it, which I gesture at in the foreground here, too. I just wish that my first ever painting of St. Michaelis wasn’t quite so rock-solid and illustrative. I could’ve varied the edges a lot more than I did. Maybe I am so in awe of this church that I didn’t dare a wet-in-wet loose approach the first time around? I think that’s possible, and I guess this means I’ll just have to paint it again. After all, I do find that I need to get to know subjects before I find the right way to paint them, so this is quite in keeping with my general haphazard m-o 🙂

21 x 29,7 cm (A4). W&N and Schmincke watercolours on Hahnemühle mould-made paper, 300 g/m². The paper is similar to Arches rough, but not as good, IMHO.
