The other day I went to the small town Bleckede which is right on the Elbe river. I am going to teach a workshop there in August – more about that later – and needed to see what the lay of the land was. I realise this kinda sounds as if I was wondering if the river was still where I thought it would be and so on… which, considering how much topography can change due to flooding is not entirely unjustified. But everything was still as I thought it would be since I have seen the castle, the river and the floodplains last. It was very hot that day so sketching meant asking myself „where can I sit in the shade“ first. Here are a few photos of the environs, plus my sketches. The panoramic format I did at home in the evening. All told a fantastic day, and I am really looking forward to the workshop!
Ich war neulich in Bleckede an der Elbe, wo ich im August einen Workshop geben werde. Ich wollte mir gern angucken, wie dort momentan alles aussieht und welche Motive es gibt. Falls sich das so anhört, als würde sich die Landschaft dort öfter mal verändern – ja, da ist was dran, denn bei jeder Überschwemmung verändern sich die Auen, die Altwasser und die Vegetation ein wenig. Aber es war eigentlich alles so, wie ich es in Erinnerung hatte. Ich bin einmal ums Schloss und die nahe gelegenen Auen gewandert, dann herunter zum Fluss und wieder zurück. Zeichnen kam während dessen leider nicht in Frage, denn die Sonne brannte heiß und es gab wenig Schatten. Aus dem Schatten heraus konnte ich später dann im Park etwas malen, vor dem Schloss ein bisschen zeichnen und beim Mittagessen die Tischdeko skizzieren. Ein schöner Tag war das, und auf den Workshop freue ich mich schon! Dazu gibt es bald die Infos.
