The Old Crane in Luneburg is one of the landmarks of the city. It is smack in the middle of the most beautiful part of the downtown area which is also quite touristy. Up to Saturday, I had never felt the desire to paint it but somehow, all of a sudden, I thought to myself: „Look at it, it is actually an interesting structure!“ It really is and I fully enjoyed painting it quickly. Back in the day when Luneburg was a rich salt-trading place this crane was used to lift goods off the flatboats that had come up the river into the (intriguingly) small inner-city harbour. – Man, I might have to go and paint that little harbour too!
